John P. Lavinus IV is a skilled negotiator and trial advocate who represents clients in commercial law, and real estate matters. A Virginia native born in Richmond, Mr. Lavinus moved to Northern Virginia after earning his law degree and has spent more than a decade developing his legal practice in the courts throughout the region.

Before entering private practice, Mr. Lavinus worked in the offices of the Council of the District of Columbia and the American Federation of Teachers as a policy associate. This experience provided him with valuable insight into government operations, public policy, and the ways legal and legislative decisions can affect individuals, families, and organizations.

After being admitted to the Virginia State Bar in 2015, Mr. Lavinus began practicing as a family law and criminal defense attorney. Over the course of his career, he has managed hundreds of cases and gained substantial experience representing clients in negotiations, hearings, and trials. Before joining Fox & Moghul, he practiced with American Lawyers Group in Tysons Corner and later served as counsel with DiPietro Law Group in Fairfax.

Mr. Lavinus takes a client-focused approach to every case. He understands that legal disputes can have lasting consequences for a client's family, finances, business interests, freedom, and future. He carefully evaluates the available options, explains the potential risks and benefits of each strategy, and helps clients make informed decisions based on their individual circumstances and objectives.
